I'm sailing around the world!

My name is Pip and 0n 20th August 2017 I set off on an epic adventure. I’m taking part in the Clipper Round the World Race. I’ll be away for nearly a year and pip360 is going to take you on my journey. There will be highs and lows but your support will make this challenge even more amazing.

WHY AM I TAKING PART?

The Clipper race amalgamates many things that I love – there is the physical aspect – I am going to be pushed like nothing I have ever experienced before. There is the competitive aspect – the race element really excites me, we are going to have to work solidly as a team in order to do as well as we can in the race. The mental aspect is also going to be really tough – I’m not looking forward to sharing a tiny hand pumped loo with 20 other people for up to 5 weeks at a time! I am also going to learn a brand new skill – I’m not a sailor at the moment, but I certainly will be by the end of it!

I want to be an ordinary person doing the extraordinary and I want to show you that everyone is capable of doing amazing things. I really believe that if you put your mind to it, then you can achieve whatever you want to – whether it’s losing a few pounds, running a marathon or getting the dream job you have always worked for. Hopefully my challenge will inspire you to follow your hearts and not give into the norm, to push yourselves out of your comfort zone and believe that you can achieve something amazing!

WHAT IS THE CLIPPER RACE?

The Clipper Race is one of the biggest challenges of the natural world and an endurance test like no other. It is a 40,000 nautical mile race around the world between twelve 70-foot ocean racing yachts, divided into eight legs.

The sea does not distinguish between Olympians or novices. There is nowhere to hide – if Mother Nature throws down the gauntlet, we must be ready to face the same challenges as the pro racer. Navigate the Doldrums en route to South America, endure epic Southern Ocean storms, experience South African sunsets, face the mountainous seas of the North Pacific – and bond with an international crew creating lifelong memories before returning victorious.
